Strong, informative and dynamic speakers are always a key element of the School Leadership Conference. This year won’t be any different. PASA and PSBA are proud to host two stellar educators ready to speak on significant topics affecting the climate of today’s public schools.
Opening keynote Baruti Kafele is a highly regarded urban educator in New Jersey for more than 20 years. He distinguished himself as a master teacher and a transformational school leader. Today he is one of the most sought-after school leadership experts and education speakers in America. Baruti Kafele will open the conference with a presentation titled “Diversity, Race and Equity – Considering All of the Leaners.”
Dr. John Hodge is vice president of the Urban Learning and Leadership Center, a staff development and training organization that serves school districts throughout the United States. He is an expert in assisting schools to plan and implement strategies for continuous improvement, and he has defined his career by helping students and teachers overcome obstacles and achieve goals. Dr. John Hodge will provide a powerful closing keynote presentation titled “Helping Students to Bounce Back – Effective Strategies in Traditional and Virtual Learning Environments.”
PSBA is thrilled to host two additional events in October to evaluate, expose and address issues of equity. School districts are navigating ongoing crises caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and by systemic discrimination and racism. These crises have exposed deep inequitable gaps in our educational system, which will only widen if communities and educational systems do not address them effectively. Join us on October 13 for the 2020 Equity Summit: Centering Equity in Crisis and Transformation and on October 22 recognize your students as stakeholders and partners in their school communities by sending them to the PSBA Student Voice: Centered in Equity to equip them to become a catalyst for positive change.
